NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Airways has announced it will continue operating special repatriation flights between Nairobi and Dubai, as authorities coordinate passenger travel arrangements between the two cities.
In a statement issued Friday, the national carrier said the flights will operate subject to available landing slots and approval from authorities at Dubai International Airport.
The airline clarified that the repatriation services are not part of its regular commercial flight schedule but are being operated to facilitate the movement of eligible passengers between the two destinations.
“We wish to inform our customers that Kenya Airways will continue operating repatriation flights between Nairobi and Dubai, subject to available slots and approval from Dubai Airport authorities,” the airline said.
Boeing Dreamliner deployed
Kenya Airways said the flights will be operated using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which is part of the airline’s long-haul fleet.
The carrier noted that the aircraft offers passengers improved comfort, larger cabin space, and enhanced onboard services.
“We will use our Boeing 787 Dreamliner for this route, so you can expect more comfort, space, and our well-known African hospitality,” the airline said.
Travel eligibility rules
The airline also said travel eligibility will be guided by directives from authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
Under the current guidelines, only passengers with valid travel documents whose journey either ends in Dubai or departs from Dubai will be allowed to board the flights.
Passengers currently in Dubai with confirmed tickets have been advised not to proceed to the airport until they receive communication from the airline regarding their scheduled departure time.
“If you are in Dubai and have a confirmed flight ticket, please wait for us to contact you with your departure date and time before going to the airport,” the airline said.
Passengers advised to monitor updates
Kenya Airways urged travellers to regularly check their booking status through the airline’s official website and ensure their contact details are updated.
The airline said passengers can use the Manage Booking option on its website to update contact information and receive direct notifications regarding their travel arrangements.
The carrier also apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused by the disruptions.
“We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience. The safety of our crew and customers remains our top priority,” the airline said.
Kenya Airways added that further updates will be communicated as soon as new information becomes available.
