NAIROBI, Kenya — The State Department for Immigration and Citizen Services has received six motorcycles donated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the U.S. Embassy’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) to bolster border security operations.
The handover ceremony, held earlier this week, saw key officials reaffirm the commitment of international partners to supporting Kenya’s migration management and border surveillance efforts.
Deputy Chief of Mission at IOM, Sharif Faisal, and INL Director at the U.S. Embassy, Mo Maureen Mimnaugh, emphasized the continued partnership between the Government of Kenya and international stakeholders in enhancing frontline immigration operations across the country.
Principal Secretary for Immigration, Dr. Belio Kipsang, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the motorcycles will significantly improve the mobility of immigration officers in carrying out border surveillance, monitoring, and rapid response activities.
“The motorcycles will play a crucial role in supporting our officers to efficiently monitor Kenya’s borders and respond to emerging challenges. We are grateful to IOM and INL for their continued support and longstanding partnership,” Dr. Belio said.
The donation reflects a sustained collaboration between Kenya’s State Department and its international partners, which has previously included capacity-building initiatives, equipment donations, and other measures aimed at strengthening the country’s border security and migration management systems.
