NAIROBI, Kenya — The Government has issued a travel advisory urging Kenyans residing in or travelling to the Middle East to exercise heightened vigilance due to the evolving security situation in parts of the region.
In a statement dated February 28, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, through the State Department for Diaspora Affairs, said it is closely monitoring developments and warned that the situation remains fluid and may change without notice.
“We urge all Kenyan citizens residing in, or planning to travel to, the region to exercise heightened vigilance,” the advisory stated.
Key Directives
The Ministry outlined several immediate steps for affected citizens:
- Register with Kenyan Missions: Kenyans are advised to register with the nearest embassy or consulate and update their contact details, next of kin, and emergency contacts through the official diaspora portal.
- Limit Movement: Citizens should avoid areas where security operations are ongoing and postpone non-essential travel, especially at night or during curfews.
- Follow Official Guidance: Kenyans must comply with host government directives and monitor verified updates from local authorities and Kenyan diplomatic missions.
- Stay Connected: Maintain regular communication with family, employers, and the Kenyan mission.
- Avoid Rumours: Do not share unverified information and rely only on official communication channels.

Emergency Support
In case of distress, Kenyans have been directed to contact the nearest embassy or consulate. The Ministry also provided a 24-hour Diaspora Emergency Hotline (+254 207 876 000) and WhatsApp line (+254 114 757 002), as well as the official consular email address.
The advisory was signed by Roseline Kathure Njogu, Principal Secretary for Diaspora Affairs, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the safety, rights, and welfare of Kenyans abroad.
The State Department emphasised that it remains operational around the clock to support citizens overseas.
Kenya routinely issues such advisories under its consular mandate to safeguard nationals abroad, particularly during periods of heightened geopolitical tension or security instability.
“Stay alert. Stay informed. Stay in touch,” the statement concluded.
