The August edition of the Patron’s Cup 2025 at Muthaiga Golf Club brought together some of Kenya’s finest golfing talent for three days of spirited competition, camaraderie, and celebration of the sport’s growing influence. The tournament, held from August 22 to 24, drew players from 15 top clubs across the country.
This year’s tournament was structured around five pools, with clubs battling for the ultimate prize — the coveted Patron’s Cup Trophy. Hosts and defending champions Muthaiga Golf Club found themselves in the Trophy Pool, where they squared off against seasoned rivals Kenya Railways Golf Club and Nyali Golf & Country Club.

While the competition was intense, the Patron’s Cup retained its reputation as one of the most social and vibrant events on the Kenyan golf calendar.
Members, families, and golf enthusiasts packed the venue, cheering on players and enjoying the social aspects of the tournament.
Evenings at the clubhouse turned into networking hubs, with business leaders, sponsors, and players mingling in a relaxed environment.
A major highlight of the 2025 edition was the entry of Shabiki.com as a key sponsor. The betting and gaming platform signed a deal with Muthaiga Golf Club to back the Patron’s Cup, marking a significant partnership aimed at strengthening the tournament’s reach and prestige.

During the signing ceremony ahead of the tournament, Shabiki.com’s Chief Operating Officer emphasized the importance of supporting sports events that not only entertain but also build communities.
The sponsorship injected fresh energy into the event, with improved logistics, enhanced hospitality for players and fans, and a bigger spotlight on the tournament nationwide.

The Patron’s Cup has grown into more than just a Muthaiga event. Its inter-club format makes it a national stage for Kenyan golf, offering exposure to a wide range of players while showcasing the strength of local clubs.
This August edition further reflected golf’s rising popularity in Kenya. From juniors and women players taking part in side events, to enthusiastic crowds, the tournament highlighted how the sport continues to attract fresh interest beyond its traditional base.
