KAJIADO, Kenya — Police have opened multiple murder investigations across four counties after a string of deaths reported between Friday and the weekend, including suspected homicide, accidents, and domestic attacks.
In Kajiado Town, officers are probing the killing of Said Sancol Abdi, whose body was discovered along the Namanga Highway with serious head injuries and blood oozing from his mouth and nose.
Five people who were last seen with Abdi were arrested hours later, including a woman believed to be linked to a suspected love-triangle dispute.
“The motive is still unclear, but we are examining all leads,” police said. Abdi’s body was taken to the mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.
In Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County, police are investigating the death of Salivan Ouma Odero, 18, whose body was found near River Nyamwaga with a deep cut on the head, and scratches on the face and eyes.
Residents told police the teenager and another man were fleeing a swarm of bees when Odero slipped from a wooden bridge and fell into the river. He reportedly sustained fatal injuries.
The body has been moved to the mortuary for an autopsy.
In Shinyalu, Kakamega County, Hannah Khatoyi, 70, was found dead in her house with severe head injuries following an attack by an assailant.
Local boda boda riders cornered the suspect as he attempted to escape. He was beaten before police intervened and placed him in custody. Investigators say the motive remains unknown.
Police in Kitengela are holding a man linked to the murder of Caroline Akinyi Ochieng, whose body was found in a thicket on November 19.
The suspect was arrested in Kisumu on Saturday, where he had fled, and was reportedly found driving the victim’s salon car. Officers say he will be transferred to Kitengela for arraignment as investigations continue.
In Uriri, Migori County, Joel Otieno, 45, was discovered dead along a roadside in the Kot Kajwang area. Police said the body bore no visible injuries at the time of recovery.
It was taken to the mortuary for examination to determine the cause of death.
Police across all affected regions say autopsy results and forensic analysis will guide the next steps in the investigations as families await answers in the unfolding series of fatalities.
