NAIROBI, Kenya – The National Police Service (NPS) has assured Nairobi residents and businesses that the Central Business District (CBD) remains safe, dismissing concerns raised by media reports of rising insecurity.
In a statement on Monday, NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said detectives had established that the August 22 incident at Nanak House — where four businesses were attacked — was linked to an internal civil dispute already before court, rather than a wave of crime in the city centre.
“An arrest has already been made, and further arrests and progress are expected,” Nyaga said, noting that Nairobi police boss gave a detailed briefing on the case.

The Inspector General’s office stressed that Nairobi’s CBD continues to be one of the most secure areas in the country to conduct business, adding that Kenya’s overall security situation remains “commendably good.”
The service also urged Kenyans to partner with law enforcement by reporting criminal activity through emergency hotlines 999, 911, 112, or the DCI’s FichuaKwaDCI line at 0800 722 203.
A new WhatsApp reporting number (0709 570 000) has also been introduced.
“As a service, we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving the people and combating all forms of criminality,” the statement concluded.
