NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the Affordable Housing Programme, describing it as a cornerstone of his long-term economic transformation agenda.
Speaking at State House, Nairobi, during the launch of the Affordable Housing Internship Programme, the President said Kenya’s progress required courage, vision, and unwavering commitment.
“Transforming a country does not come easy. It takes courage, foresight and commitment. We will keep pushing. Our vision for a better Kenya is irreversible,” Ruto declared.
The new internship initiative is designed to support the practical implementation of the Affordable Housing Plan by integrating 4,000 recent graduates into key sectors of the construction industry.
The programme will target young professionals from fields such as architecture, quantity surveying, engineering, and construction management, among others.

According to the President, the internship will bridge the gap between academic training and hands-on experience, while also boosting employment for Kenya’s skilled youth.
“The Affordable Housing Programme showcases the right steps we are taking to make our country prosperous for all,” he added.

The internship is part of the broader Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which places emphasis on job creation, youth empowerment, and inclusive growth through strategic national projects.
The Affordable Housing Programme, launched in 2023, aims to deliver at least 200,000 housing units annually, targeting low and middle-income earners while also stimulating the construction industry.
