NAIROBI, Kenya– Sophos and Halcyon have partnered to tackle the escalating threat of ransomware, unveiling a collaboration anchored on real-time intelligence sharing and mutual anti-tamper protections.
The move is designed to accelerate detection and improve response for more than 300,000 organizations globally.
The two cybersecurity firms will share critical intelligence on ransomware, including indicators of compromise, attacker behaviors, and campaign tactics.
This data will feed into both Sophos’ and Halcyon’s platforms such as Sophos Endpoint, Sophos XDR, Sophos Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Halcyon’s Anti-Ransomware Platform giving businesses faster protection against increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks.
Speaking during the announcement, Simon Reed, chief research and scientific officer at Sophos, said the partnership reflects the need for industry players to work together.
“Ransomware tools and tactics are evolving constantly, and the best defense is timely, relevant intelligence that enables defenders to act quickly and with confidence,”he said.
“By sharing insights with Halcyon, we’re improving signal fidelity and accelerating detection across our systems, which strengthens protection for all the organizations we serve.”
A unique aspect of the deal is the rollout of mutual anti-tamper protections.
This will allow each company’s systems to monitor and safeguard the other’s software, ensuring ransomware cannot disable defenses mid-attack a common tactic among advanced cybercriminal groups.
Halcyon co-founder and CEO Jon Miller emphasized Sophos’ industry reputation as a driver of the collaboration.
“Over the last four years, based on our telemetry, Sophos has time and time again proven to be one of the most effective endpoint security platforms we have encountered.Their dedication to innovate and roll out industry-leading and unique features continues to put their customers at an everyday advantage over the most sophisticated attacks affecting enterprises today,” he said.
The partnership is part of Sophos’ broader strategy to expand its threat response capabilities through alliances.
Its X-Ops intelligence unit will work closely with Halcyon’s researchers to operationalize ransomware insights across a wider range of attack surfaces.
