WASHINGTON – U.S. President Donald Trump has given Hamas until Sunday evening to accept his proposed plan for Gaza’s future, warning that failure to do so would trigger “all Hell” against the militant group.
“An agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time,” Trump wrote Friday on his Truth Social platform. “Every country has signed on! If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
The ultimatum marks Trump’s sharpest warning yet since unveiling a 20-point Gaza plan earlier in the week, aimed at ending months of conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The proposal calls for an immediate ceasefire, a swap of all hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a transitional administration led by an international body.
Hamas has not yet issued a final response to the proposal. A senior official from the group told Reuters on Thursday that “intensive discussion is underway,” and that Hamas had held consultations with Arab mediators, Turkey, and other Palestinian factions to coordinate a collective position.
Trump, who said Tuesday he would allow Hamas “three to four days” to decide, has grown increasingly frustrated at the lack of progress toward a ceasefire.
He described Hamas as a “ruthless and violent threat in the Middle East” responsible for the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel that left more than 1,200 people dead.
In his post, Trump claimed remaining Hamas fighters in Gaza are “trapped” and would be “hunted down, and killed” without an agreement. He also urged civilians to move to unspecified “safe areas” in Gaza.
The U.S. leader insists that his plan has the backing of multiple regional and international players — though neither Israel nor Hamas has publicly confirmed acceptance of its terms.
