NAIROBI, Kenya – The Jubilee Party will hold a Special National Delegates Convention (NDC) on September 26, 2025, at the Jockey Club, Ngong Racecourse, Nairobi, in a move aimed at reviving the party’s political fortunes under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The convention, which kicks off at 8 a.m., is expected to be a defining moment in Jubilee’s bid to re-establish itself on Kenya’s political stage after years of internal wrangles and legal battles.
According to the official notice, delegates will receive a report from the National Executive Committee (NEC), before deliberating on proposed changes to the party’s constitution, organs, policies, and programmes. They will also address any other urgent matters affecting the party.
Uhuru’s Return to Active Leadership
The Special NDC comes just weeks after Uhuru chaired a NEC meeting virtually—his first active engagement since regaining full control of the party following a High Court ruling in September 2024 and a subsequent June 2025 gazette notice reinstating him and his team as the legitimate leadership.
During that NEC session, Jubilee reviewed its current state, ongoing programmes, and strategic plan for rebuilding grassroots and national structures.
Deputy Secretary General Pauline Njoroge said the meeting was a reaffirmation of the party’s vision, stressing that Jubilee would remain steadfast in its role as an opposition force.
“The party is committed to defending the interests and rights of Kenyans amid a rapidly evolving political environment,” she said.
Rebuilding for the Future
The upcoming NDC is expected to set the tone for Jubilee’s repositioning and renewal, as it seeks to reclaim relevance ahead of future political contests.
Analysts say it will also test Uhuru’s ability to rally his supporters and reposition Jubilee in a landscape now dominated by the ruling UDA and Raila Odinga’s ODM.
