NAIROBI, Kenya – Jubilee Party leader Uhuru Kenyatta has summoned a Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) set for the end of August, signaling a renewed effort to revive and reposition the once-dominant political outfit.
In a notice dated August 5, Uhuru formally informed party members of the convention, issuing a 21-day notice in accordance with Articles 8.1 and 10.1 of the Jubilee Party Constitution.
“Pursuant to Article 8.1 and 10.1 of the Jubilee Party Constitution, 21 days’ notice is hereby issued for a Special National Delegates Convention to be held at the Jockey Club, Nairobi, Kenya,” the notice reads.
The agenda includes receiving a status report from the National Executive Committee (NEC), reviewing party policies, and deliberating on other critical matters affecting the party’s future.
First NEC Meeting Since Legal Turmoil
The NDC announcement came just hours after the Jubilee NEC held its first official meeting since the conclusion of protracted court battles over the party’s leadership.
Although he did not attend the session in person, Uhuru participated virtually, reaffirming his continued grip on the party despite recent turbulence and attempts by rival factions to seize control.
A statement released after the NEC meeting outlined key discussions, including an audit of party programmes and a roadmap for revitalizing Jubilee’s grassroots presence.
“The meeting deliberated on key issues affecting the party, including a comprehensive review of party affairs, progress made on ongoing programmes, and strategic plans for reinvigorating the party’s structures and operations,” the statement read.
A “Turning Point” for Jubilee
Deputy Secretary General Pauline Njoroge described the NEC session as a pivotal moment in Jubilee’s journey to reestablish itself as a national force.
“This was a crucial meeting that marks a significant step in reaffirming the Jubilee Party’s ideals, strategic direction, and internal unity,” she said.
She added that the party remains firmly positioned within the opposition and is committed to championing the rights of Kenyans at a time of mounting political and economic pressure across the country.

Reclaiming Relevance
The upcoming NDC is widely seen as a platform for Jubilee to redefine its ideological identity, consolidate its leadership, and chart a comeback strategy ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Once the ruling party, Jubilee’s influence has waned significantly since 2022, with internal divisions, legal disputes, and shifting alliances weakening its national presence.
However, recent legal victories and the reassertion of Uhuru’s leadership have injected new momentum into efforts to rebuild.
