NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenyan police officer killed in a tragic road accident in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, has been identified as Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve.
Corporal Nzuve, 41, died on Sunday, August 31, 2025, after two armored MaxxPro vehicles collided along the steep Kenscoff–Pétion-Ville road at Pèlerin 9.
A civilian also perished, while eight Multinational Security Support (MSS) officers were injured, three critically.
MSS officials confirmed that Corporal Nzuve was pronounced dead at Lambert Santé Hospital in Pétion-Ville.
Born on March 8, 1984, in Machakos County, he joined the National Police Service in 2005 and later served with the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).
Over his career, he worked in Narok and Baringo counties before joining Kenya’s third contingent to the MSS in Haiti.
“Corporal Nzuve consistently demonstrated courage, dedication, and unwavering commitment until his untimely passing,” the MSS said in a statement.

A memorial service was held on Monday at LSA1 in Haiti, attended by Kenyan officers and colleagues from the Bahamas, Jamaica, El Salvador, Guatemala, and international security partners.
His remains have since been flown to the Dominican Republic for preservation before repatriation to Kenya.
National Police Service spokesman Muchiri Nyaga confirmed that his next of kin have been notified and arrangements are underway for his return.
Corporal Nzuve becomes the third Kenyan officer to die in Haiti since the deployment began in June 2024.
