Geoffrey Mosiria’s Profile And Rising Political Influence

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Nairobi County Chief Officer Geoffrey Omatoke Mosiria has been reassigned to head Citizen Engagement and Customer Service in the latest county government reshuffle announced by Governor Johnson Sakaja.

The changes, contained in a circular dated November 18, 2025, take effect immediately.

Mosiria, who previously served as Chief Officer for Environment, gained prominence for his proactive campaigns against illegal dumping, noise pollution, and other environmental violations in Nairobi.

His efforts, often documented on TikTok, made him a familiar figure among residents and boosted his public profile.

While some colleagues reportedly felt his visibility overshadowed Governor Sakaja, the governor emphasized that the reassignment is routine and within his administrative powers.

“In accordance with Section 45(5) of the County Government Act 2012, the following County Chief Officers have been re-assigned. The changes take effect immediately,” Sakaja said.

From Healthcare to Environmental Leadership

Mosiria’s career spans healthcare administration and environmental management.

He started as a hospital administrator at Pumwani Maternity Hospital (2013–2022), improving service delivery through partnerships with local and international organizations.

In 2023, he was appointed Chief Officer for Environment, where he became known for tackling illegal dumping at places like Kangemi Market and curbing noise pollution from clubs and churches.

His fearless approach earned him both public admiration and some criticism from colleagues.

Educational Background and Personal Profile

Mosiria graduated from the University of Nairobi with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2014 and earned an MBA in Finance and Financial Service Management in 2022.

He is currently pursuing a post-doctorate degree, reflecting his commitment to continuous learning. While his exact age is undisclosed, he is estimated to be in his mid-to-late 30s.
