Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah earns PhD in Law from US University

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Roots Party leader and former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has added another feather to his cap — a Ph.D. in Law and Public Policy from Walden University in Orlando, Florida.

The ever-eccentric politician and lawyer officially graduated on Saturday after six years of study, a journey he says was filled with rigorous academic work, a global pandemic, and a healthy dose of persistence.

Announcing the achievement with characteristic flair, Wajackoyah wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Tomorrow is D-Day. 6 years of hard work. Tuko Orange Convention Center, Orlando, Florida. PhD Law & Public Policy. The work is listed in the Library of Congress for future research in law and scholarly writings.”

Yes, you read that right. According to Wajackoyah, his doctoral thesis is now published in the Library of Congress, the United States’ largest library and a key research hub for American lawmakers. The Roots Party leader claims that this validation now places his academic work within reach of U.S. congressional lawmakers when debating immigration laws.

“I am very happy to announce that my PhD thesis in Law and Public Policy has been validated and published by the Library of Congress,” he beamed. “This validation means that Congressional lawmakers can now refer to it as a source of law. The doctoral thesis took me 6 years, with COVID in between.”

Wajackoyah is no stranger to the spotlight — or controversy. His 2022 presidential run was marked by bold, often eyebrow-raising policy proposals, including legalizing marijuana for economic growth, reducing the workweek to four days, and introducing snake farming as a revenue stream. He may have finished third with 61,969 votes, but he undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the race.

Add to that his signature Rastafarian style — think head wraps, dark shades, and a no-nonsense leather jacket — and Wajackoyah quickly became a media favorite and a cult figure among younger voters looking for something different.

Now armed with a doctorate, Wajackoyah is doubling down on his political ambitions. He’s already confirmed he’ll be back on the ballot in 2027, hoping to move from headline maker to headline commander-in-chief.
