NAIROBI, Kenya- NETA Auto, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has announced ambitious plans to set up an EV assembly plant in Kenya, marking a significant milestone in the country’s green transportation revolution.

NETA Auto has made a grand entrance into the African market by opening its flagship store in Nairobi, the first of its kind on the continent.
This move is part of a broader strategy to penetrate the African right-hand drive (RHD) market with their innovative EVs.
At the launch event, Eric Lumallas, assistant to the CEO of Moja EV Kenya, the exclusive distributor of NETA cars in Africa, announced that the local assembly of NETA cars would begin in the next two months.
The new plant aims to assemble 250 vehicles per month, starting with the NETA V model, followed by NETA AYA and NETA X.
NETA Auto’s venture into Kenya aligns perfectly with the government’s National Electric Mobility Plan.
This initiative is designed to promote sustainable road traffic management and create a greener transportation system.
Kenya Power’s recent report highlights the increasing interest from both local and international stakeholders in developing the country’s e-mobility sector.
The report notes that there are already over 1,350 electric vehicles on Kenyan roads, with motorcycles making up 62pc of this number.
The growth of the e-mobility sector is expected to significantly impact Kenya’s economy by reducing transportation costs for the masses.
NETA Auto’s aspirations don’t stop at Kenya. Over the next two years, the company plans to enter 20 countries, open 100 stores, and achieve an annual sales volume of over 20,000 units within three years across Africa.
By establishing a robust service network and offering exceptional after-sales services, NETA Auto aims to become a leader among new energy car manufacturers in the region.
