Huawei Kenya Opens Registration for 2024-2025 ICT Competition

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Huawei Kenya has officially opened registration for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition, inviting students nationwide to showcase their skills in the rapidly evolving world of technology.

In partnership with leading universities and TVET institutions across the country, Huawei aims to equip the next generation of ICT leaders with essential skills to drive Kenya’s digital transformation.

The ICT Competition, now an annual highlight in Huawei’s calendar, serves as a platform for students to dive into critical fields like Networking, Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, and Cybersecurity.

This initiative is about hands-on experience, which is crucial in today’s tech landscape.

From gaining access to cutting-edge resources to networking with industry experts, students have an invaluable opportunity to boost their career prospects while contributing to the nation’s tech-driven growth.

Michael Kamau, Huawei Kenya’s Partnerships and Corporate Affairs Manager, emphasized the significance of this competition in shaping Kenya’s ICT future.

“As we embark on the journey to create a digitally empowered Kenya, this competition is integral to developing the next generation of ICT leaders,” Kamau said.

He further highlighted the importance of practical experience, stating that participants benefit from expert mentorship, industry-recognized certifications, and access to free learning materials—all key to bridging the gap between academic theory and industry needs.

The stakes are high for top performers in the competition, with the chance to represent Kenya on a global stage.

Successful students could find themselves competing internationally against other talented minds from around the world. Even better? There are opportunities for job offers from Huawei and its partners, positioning winners directly in the workforce upon graduation.

For Kenyan students, this means stepping into an ICT job market that’s growing in leaps and bounds thanks to government initiatives and corporate investments.

This competition is also part of Huawei’s broader strategy to integrate practical ICT training into the curriculum of Kenyan universities.

By working closely with these institutions, Huawei is helping students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world scenarios, preparing them to tackle the challenges of a digital economy.

Registration Details and What’s Next

Registration for the 2024-2025 ICT Competition is open until November 30, 2024, with a series of rounds leading up to the global finals in mid-2025.

University students and those enrolled in technical colleges who are pursuing ICT-related courses are encouraged to sign up here before the deadline.

As part of Huawei’s broader involvement in Kenya’s digital landscape, the ICT Competition works hand in hand with other Huawei initiatives such as the Huawei Seeds for the Future and the ICT Academy

These programs have already made a significant impact by nurturing local talent, helping Kenya stay ahead in a world where technology is at the forefront of economic development.

In the race towards a fully digital Kenya, Huawei is helping to pave the way for a new generation of ICT experts ready to lead.
