Arrested Protestors Turn Police Cells into Protest Grounds, Chanting Reforms Songs

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya, In a surprising turn of events, the #OccupyParliament protests took an unexpected twist as over 200 protestors, primarily youthful men and women, continued their defiant demonstration from within police cells.

Arrested for their participation in the peaceful protests against the Financial Bill 2024, the detainees transformed their confinement into a new stage for their cause.

Viral videos circulating on social media platforms show the spirited group, undeterred by their arrest, singing anti-Government songs and chanting slogans calling for the rejection of the controversial bill.

Among the arrested, several young women stood out, their voices echoing the collective sentiment of a generation demanding change.

The initial protest, largely attended by GenZ, was marked by its peaceful and organized nature.

Despite facing teargas and arbitrary arrests, the protestors maintained their composure, exemplifying a new wave of activism driven by youth engagement.

“The scene inside the police cells only served to amplify their message,” a protestor who had been detained but later released told Y News.

As the videos continue to gain traction online, the protestors’ actions have sparked widespread support and admiration.
