CS Murkomen Commends Progress in North Rift Security During Baringo Visit

BARINGO, Kenya – Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen visited Baringo County today to assess the progress of Operation Maliza Uhalifu in the North Rift region.

Murkomen acknowledged significant strides in reversing cattle rustling, a longstanding challenge in pastoralist counties.

He thanked the multi-agency security teams, including specialized units, and assured them of the government’s continued support through resource mobilization and technological advancements to combat banditry.

The CS expressed satisfaction with the restoration of calm in the region, highlighting the reopening of schools and the return of normalcy in affected communities.

He celebrated the milestones achieved, emphasizing that local communities and security agencies should take pride in the visible progress.

Murkomen urged local leaders to promote peace sincerely and called for stronger Community Policing mechanisms to ensure lasting harmony.

He dismissed detractors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to securing the region.

Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja echoed the CS’s sentiments, applauding officers for their dedication.

He noted that schools have reopened, residents are resettling on their farms, and economic activities are picking up, marking a new era of stability in the North Rift.

Also present during the visit were DIG APS Gilbert Masengeli, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Hassan Abdi, GSU Commandant Ranson Lolmodoni, Anti-Stock Theft Unit Commandant Joseph Limo, Rift Valley RPC Jasper Ombati, Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, and other senior officials.
