Engineers Call Out Sudi For Using Initial ‘Eng’ Before His Name: “You Haven’t Earned”

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – The Institution of Engineering of Kenya (IEK) has slammed Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi for using the initial ‘engineer’ tag before his name.

In a post on X formerly Twitter, Shammah Kiteme, the Consulting Civil Structural Engineering President, the organization said Sudi was wrongly using the title he had not earned.

“Please note the initial Eng. before anyone’s name is protected by law; Engineers Act 2011. It takes at least 8 years of hard work to earn it. @HonOscarSudi please stop this disrespectful use of the title you haven’t earned,” the IEK president said.

The IEK statement comes a few hours after Sudi said he was “deeply grateful to receive an Honorary Doctorate in Leadership Administration and Management from Northwestern Christian University.”

“This recognition reinforces my belief that true leadership is about serving others and driving positive change,” said the third term Kapseret MP.

From 2013 to 2017 Sudi was a member of the Departmental Committee on Lands, the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee and the Procedure and House Rules Committee. Since 2017 he has been a member of the Departmental Committee on Energy.

In September 2020 he was accused of hate speech towards Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta and a disturbance occurred when locals used logs and stones to prevent police from accessing his home to arrest him. He surrendered himself to a police station on 13 September.

In September 2016 Sudi was reported to have presented forged academic papers to IEBC and EACC with an intention to deceive the two commissions that he had requisite credential to be allowed to vie as MP.

In October 2016 he was charged in court for forgery of academic papers for presenting a fake diploma certificate from Kenya Institute of Management and a fake KCSE certificate from Highway high school and was released on bail.

In May 2022 former highway high school principal testified in court that the Sudi did not sit any KCSE exam in 2006 as he had claimed in the forgeries.

In June 2024, Sudi was acquitted for academic forgery charges on account of a botched police investigation of conducting the investigation of the forgeries in a hotel while Sudi maintained his Member of parliament seat with the forgeries
