NAIROBI, Kenya — The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has invited organisations to apply for accreditation as election observers and media practitioners ahead of the by-elections scheduled for February 26, 2026.
In a public notice, the electoral body said the accreditation targets organisations seeking to observe or cover the upcoming by-elections across the country.
IEBC directed all interested applicants to submit their applications through its Accreditation Management System (AMS).
Applications must be made online via https://ams.iebc.or.ke.
The commission set the deadline for submissions on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 5.00 pm.
IEBC cautioned applicants to ensure they have stable and reliable internet access when submitting their details to avoid delays or incomplete applications.
Once the accreditation process is complete, the commission will conduct mandatory training for successful organisations. IEBC will also issue official badges to accredited observers and media practitioners.
The badges will grant access to polling stations and tallying centres during the by-elections.
IEBC clarified that it does not provide financial support to observers or media practitioners. Accredited parties will meet their own operational costs.
For further enquiries, IEBC advised applicants to contact the commission through (020) 2877000 or email accreditation@iebc.or.ke.
The IEBC headquarters is located on the 6th Floor, Anniversary Towers, University Way, Nairobi.
The February by-elections are expected to draw keen public interest, with election observation and media coverage seen as critical to transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
