VATICAN- On May 8, 2025, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost made his first public appearance as the 267th Pope of the Catholic Church, taking the name Pope Leo XIV.
Standing before the faithful from the iconic balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica, the new pontiff greeted the world with his first words as the leader of the global Catholic community: “Peace be with all of you.”
