KAA Marks Significant Achievement with UKAS-Granted ISO Certifications for Airports and Headquarters

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – It’s a big win for the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) after its Head Office, Moi International Airport (MIA), and Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) received certifications for their Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001:2018) and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001:2015).

The United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) awarded these certificates, which highlight KAA’s leadership in workplace safety and environmental sustainability.

“This accomplishment supports Environmental Stewardship as a key component of KAA’s 2023–2027 Strategic Plan. The ISO 14001:2015 accreditation demonstrates KAA’s dedication to environmentally responsible practices, such as waste management, energy and water conservation, lowering carbon emissions, and controlling air and noise pollution,” KAA said in a statement.

How KAA plans to maintain its reputation

At the same time, KAA indicated that its commitment to upholding the highest standards of occupational health and safety for all airport employees and stakeholders is acknowledged by the ISO 45001:2018 accreditation.

“By achieving these ISO standards, KAA has established a standard for efficient management and ongoing development by successfully incorporating Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) concepts into the day-to-day operations of its airports and offices,” the statement further reads.

The Authority said it will be subject to routine surveillance audits to guarantee continued compliance and improve its EHS performance.

“KAA would like to express its sincere gratitude to all of its employees, partners, and stakeholders whose hard work and cooperation made this accomplishment possible,” KAA explained.

The Authority went on: “We recommit to maintaining these high standards as we commemorate this milestone, making sure Kenya’s airports continue to be secure, environmentally friendly, and competitive on a global scale both today and in the future.”

What is the United Kingdom Accreditation Service

The British government recognises the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) as the national accrediting authority. UKAS evaluates and accredits organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection, and calibration services.

This guarantees that these companies fulfil particular requirements, promoting trust in the calibre and dependability of their offerings.

In several businesses, proving one’s expertise and credibility requires UKAS accreditation.
