NAIROBI, Kenya- Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba has dismissed widely circulated social media claims that the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results have already been released.
The statement follows viral posts suggesting that top institutions, including Kapsabet Boys High School, had topped the national exam results ahead of any official announcement.
Ogamba urged parents, students, and the public to treat such information as “fake and misleading news.”
He emphasized that the Ministry of Education and the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) remain the only authorities to announce the official KCSE results.
The confusion was worsened by screenshots and posts claiming the results were being broadcast live.
This was despite no formal communication from the Ministry or KNEC.
Officials reiterated that speculation on social media does not constitute an official release.
Expected Timeline and Process
Education officials have long stated that KCSE results are traditionally released in January each year, usually within the first two weeks, ahead of the January 15 cutoff.
This aligns with previous patterns, including the 2024 KCSE results, which were officially announced in early January 2025.
Meanwhile, preparations for the marking of the 2025 KCSE exams, which were conducted across the country from late October to late November 2025, have been progressing under strict oversight.
Authorities have also highlighted and addressed cases of examination malpractice and attempted fraud, including those involving altered scores and unauthorized interference in the marking process.
