Kenya Space Agency Opens Call for Sessions Ahead of Global Data Festival and Space Expo

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Space Agency (KSA) has opened a call for session applications ahead of the Global Data Festival and the Kenya Space Expo & Conference (KSEC), scheduled to take place in Nairobi in June 2026.

In a statement, the agency invited innovators, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners to submit proposals for collaborative and creative sessions that explore the intersection of data, space, and emerging technologies.

KSA said the sessions will focus on key themes, including equitable distribution of power in the age of artificial intelligence, translating innovation into real-world impact, and building data and space systems that support sustainable development.

The events, to be held under the #KSEC2026 and #DataFest2026 banners, are being organised in partnership with the Government of Kenya, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), and the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data.

According to KSA, the conferences aim to position Kenya as a regional hub for conversations on data governance, space technologies and their role in development policy, innovation and public decision-making.

“We are looking for innovative, collaborative, and creative sessions that push boundaries and connect ideas to action,” the agency said.

The Kenya Space Expo and Conference brings together stakeholders from government, academia, industry and civil society to examine how space-derived data and technologies can be leveraged to address challenges such as climate change, urbanisation, food security, and digital inclusion.

The Global Data Festival, which runs alongside the expo, focuses on the use of data for public good, accountability and evidence-based policymaking, at a time when artificial intelligence and big data are reshaping governance worldwide.

To support prospective applicants, KSA announced that it will host an information webinar on February 5, 2026.

The session will provide guidance on the call for sessions, the application process and how to strengthen proposals.

Applicants are encouraged to submit session ideas through the official conference platform and to participate in the webinar to improve their chances of selection.
