Kiambu Governor Escorted To EACC Headquarters After Morning Raid At His Residences, Offices

Date:

NAIROBI, KENYA – Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi was escorted to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) headquarters in Nairobi on Tuesday following a morning raid at both his residences and offices.

The raid is part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged embezzlement of public funds and potential conflicts of interest within Kiambu County.

According to EACC sources, the governor is being investigated for his role in the mismanagement of county resources, including the possible diversion of funds meant for public projects.

The raid, which also involved the questioning of nine other senior county officials, is said to focus on uncovering fraudulent financial activities linked to inflated contracts and misuse of public funds.

The operation, which began early in the morning, saw EACC detectives seize key documents and materials from Governor Wamatangi’s home and offices.

These materials are reportedly crucial to the ongoing investigation into corruption and public resource misappropriation within Kiambu County.

Following the raid, Wamatangi and the other officials were transported to the EACC headquarters, where they are being grilled over their involvement in the alleged financial misconduct.

The commission has not disclosed the exact amount of funds under investigation, but it is understood to involve substantial sums.

This high-profile investigation has garnered significant attention, given Wamatangi’s political influence and the growing concerns over financial transparency in county governments.

The EACC has assured the public that the case will be pursued thoroughly and that any individuals found guilty of corruption will face legal consequences.
