Nairobi, Kenya- If you live in Nairobi, Kiambu, Kitui, Tharaka Nithi, Mombasa, or Kwale, you might want to charge your devices and plan accordingly.
Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across these regions, citing routine maintenance as the reason behind the outages.
According to a public notice issued on Tuesday, power supply will be disrupted at different times between 8 AM and 5 PM, depending on the affected area. So, is your location on the list?
Who’s Affected and When?
Nairobi & Kiambu: From Estates to Institutions
Residents in parts of Nairobi will experience outages between 9 AM and 5 PM. The affected areas include:
- Githurai 45 (Naivas, Co-op Bank, Mt Kenya, Mwiki School, Farmers Choice)
- Eastleigh Section III (Huduma Centre, Equity Bank, Mega Wholesalers)
- Runda & Ruaka (Evergreen, Flame Tree, Tala Drive)
Meanwhile, Kiambu County will face similar disruptions, with Ruaka Town, Kyuna Road, Kinuthia Drive, and Delta Total Petrol Station among the impacted locations.
Kitui & Mt. Kenya: Rural Communities Hit
In Kitui, power interruptions will run from 9 AM to 5 PM, affecting Kwa Gavana, Mivukoni, Tseikuru, Kaningo, and Kiambere Water Supply.
Meanwhile, in the Mt. Kenya region, key areas such as Tumutumu Secondary School, Gathuthi Tea Factory, Mahiga Girls, and Mathenge Technical Training Institute will experience outages between 8 AM and 5 PM.

Coast Region: Mombasa & Kwale Also Affected
Mombasa residents near Technical University of Mombasa, Tudor Hospital, and Tudor Water Sports should prepare for disruptions between 9 AM and 5 PM.
Over in Kwale, locations including Lungalunga, Majoreni, Vanga, and Horohoro will be in the dark between 9 AM and 4 PM.
Kenya Power insists that the outages are necessary for maintenance and system upgrades.
While these interruptions might be inconvenient, they are part of the company’s efforts to enhance grid reliability and prevent unexpected blackouts in the future.
