Nairobi, Busia and Mombasa Among Areas to Experience Electricity Cuts on Thursday, June 12

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Power has announced a scheduled power interruption affecting dozens of locations across the country on Thursday, June 12, as it conducts planned maintenance on its electricity distribution network.

The daylong exercise, expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in most areas, will see disruptions in parts of Nairobi, Mombasa, Busia, Kisumu, and several other counties.

Some areas in Uasin Gishu County will have outages beginning earlier, from 8:00 a.m.

Below is a breakdown of the affected regions:

Nairobi County

Parklands

Parts of Parklands will be without power, including:

  • Massari Road
  • The entire 4th Parklands
  • Parts of 3rd Parklands
  • Presidential Escort area
  • Diamond Plaza 1 & 2
  • Sky Mall and surrounding establishments

Lang’ata

Significant commercial and residential areas in Lang’ata will also be affected, such as:

  • Part of Lang’ata Road
  • Galleria Mall
  • KWS Lang’ata Barracks
  • Muiri Lane & Muiri Close
  • Ola Petrol Station
  • Jambo Estate, KRA Estate
  • Camp David, Samaj, Shree Cutch
  • Carnivore Restaurant & Carnivore Water Splash
  • EPCO, Trident Park
  • Phenom Estate, West Park Police Line, Daisy Park

Kenya Power says the maintenance exercise is necessary to ensure stability and improved reliability of electricity supply in the affected areas.
