NAKURU, Kenya — President William Ruto has launched the disbursement of more than Sh245 million in business start-up capital under the NYOTA programme to support youth across five Rift Valley counties.
Speaking at the Nakuru ASK Showground, President Ruto said the funds will benefit young entrepreneurs in Nakuru, Baringo, Narok, Bomet, and Kericho counties.
A total of 9,847 successful applicants each received Sh22,000, with an additional Sh3,000 deposited into their Haba Na Haba savings accounts at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
The President said the initiative is designed to provide both immediate capital and long-term financial security for young people seeking to start or grow small businesses.
“We are strategically investing in our youth because they are our country’s most treasured resource,” Mr Ruto said.
“The opportunities we are creating are for young people with various skills, knowledge, and competencies, and even those who have not had a chance to go far in school.”

Government officials say the NYOTA programme aims to promote entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and job creation by combining direct grants with structured savings.
