NAIROBI, Kenya — The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has officially announced a vacancy for the position of Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, inviting qualified Kenyans to apply ahead of Dr. Nancy Macharia’s departure on June 30, 2025, when her term concludes.
The new CEO will serve an initial five-year term, with the potential for reappointment for another five years based on performance and approval by the Commission.
To qualify, applicants must be Kenyan citizens and hold a university degree in education.
Candidates are also required to meet the standards outlined in Chapter 6 of the Constitution, and possess at least ten years of experience in fields such as education, public administration, human resources, or financial management.

Completed applications, along with relevant documents, must be submitted to the Chairman’s Office at TSC Headquarters in Upper Hill, Nairobi, no later than Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
In addition, all applicants must obtain clearance certificates from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Once applications are reviewed, the list of shortlisted candidates and the interview schedule will be published in line with TSC’s commitment to a transparent recruitment process.
The position is one of the most influential in Kenya’s education sector, overseeing the management and policy direction of the country’s public teaching workforce.
