Vincent Chahale Appointed Country Director For IJM Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya – Vincent Chahale has been appointed as the new Country Director for the Kenya office of the International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization focused on protecting the poor from violence.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, by Andy Griffiths, IJM’s Regional President for Africa and Europe.

Chahale has played a pivotal role in IJM Kenya since October 2020, leading the Justice Systems Interventions team for the Kenya Police Abuse of Power program.

His efforts have focused on developing strategies for collaborative casework to drive systemic reforms in the nation’s criminal justice system.

Before joining IJM, Chahale amassed over 20 years of experience in various senior government positions.

His roles included tenures at the Commission on Administrative Justice, the Ministry of Justice, National Cohesion and Constitutional Affairs, and the State Law Office.

An Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Chahale has extensive expertise in legal and advisory matters, leadership, mediation, and corporate governance.

Throughout his career, Chahale has been a dedicated champion of justice and human rights, contributing significantly to justice system reforms.

He was instrumental as a technical committee member of the Presidential Task Force on the Legal and Regulatory Framework for Fighting Corruption in Kenya and as a member of the Judiciary Task Force on Sentencing.

In November 2024, Chahale participated in the launch of the National Council on Administration of Justice (NCAJ)’s 2023-2024 report.

During the event, he emphasized the critical role of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), like IJM, in advancing administrative justice in Kenya.
