NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenya is set to host the 7th edition of the Africa Safety Award For Excellence and Congress (AfriSAFE 2025), marking a major milestone for the country’s health and safety sector.
The prestigious event will be held in partnership with the Workplace Safety Professionals Association of Kenya (WSPAK), and is expected to attract more than 35,000 hybrid participants from across the continent and beyond.
A highlight of the congress will be the unveiling of the AfriSAFE 2025 Safety Idea Capital, a funding initiative aimed at empowering local innovators in the health, safety, security, environment and sustainability (HSSES) space.
The programme will offer up to $20,000 in investment capital, provided by experienced mentors or “Guardians,” in exchange for equity to support the development of transformative safety ideas.
The initiative underscores AfriSAFE’s growing commitment to fostering homegrown, tech-enabled solutions to improve safety across Africa’s roads, workplaces, and homes.
“This strategic and timely partnership with AfriSAFE will cast an international spotlight on Kenyan organizations that are prioritizing worker safety and environmental stewardship,” said Ken Kogei, President of WSPAK. “It will serve as a platform to celebrate progress, inspire others, and push the needle forward on safety innovation.”
The AfriSAFE 2025 conference and awards ceremony will take place in Mombasa on November 12–13, and serve as both a celebration and a catalyst for collaboration among HSSES professionals, policymakers, investors, and innovators.
AfriSAFE CEO Femi Da-Silva noted that the Safety Idea Capital will combine financial support with mentorship and strategic guidance to ensure that promising projects scale effectively.
He also confirmed that nominations for the 2025 AfriSAFE Awards—which recognise individuals and organisations demonstrating exceptional safety practices—are currently open via www.afrisafe.org.
“AfriSAFE is about more than awards—it’s about impact,” Da-Silva said. “Through initiatives like the Safety Idea Capital, we are building a pipeline of African solutions for African safety challenges.”
The upcoming edition has received strong backing from local and international partners, including the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Kenya’s Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, and the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH).
Confirmed sponsors include Golden Africa Djibouti, ASKY Airlines, Seplat Energy, Savenda Group, SMTS Zambia, Hybrid Group, and Bellie & Roaster, among others.
Key strategic partners such as the Alliance for HSE Women Kenya and the Africa Vision Zero Network are also on board.
With safety now taking centre stage in discussions around economic development and sustainability, Kenya’s hosting of AfriSAFE 2025 marks a pivotal moment for the region’s commitment to safer, healthier work environments.
