NAIROBI, Kenya – Former Harambee Stars ace and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President McDonald Mariga is mourning the loss of his mother, Mildred Wanyama, who passed away peacefully on Saturday morning.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official X account, Mariga expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing her passing as a moment of “great sadness.”

Mildred Wanyama was not only the matriarch of a celebrated footballing family, but also a passionate supporter of her children’s athletic pursuits.
She was the wife of AFC Leopards legend Noah Wanyama and the proud mother of several professional athletes, including ex-Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, Thomas, Sylvester, and basketball star Mercy Wanyama.
Affectionately known in local sporting circles, Mama Mildred was a familiar face in the stands, often cheering her children on with pride.
