Kenya Airways Partners With Germany’s TUI Group to Relaunch KQ Holidays

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Airways has partnered with Germany’s TUI Group to relaunch KQ Holidays, a travel platform designed to bundle flights, hotels, and curated local experiences into a single booking.

The airline said the partnership integrates its global route network with TUI Airline Holidays’ end-to-end packaging technology, positioning Nairobi stopovers as immersive tourism journeys rather than brief transit points.

“KQ Holidays is designed to position Kenya as a vibrant, year-round leisure destination through meaningful and well-curated travel experiences,” the airline said in a statement.

The platform emphasises sustainable tourism, authentic local engagement, and personalised itineraries that reflect travellers’ interests while contributing to local communities and the regional economy.

Turning Stopovers Into Experiences

Under the new model, passengers connecting through Nairobi can incorporate short stays into their wider travel itineraries.

The integrated booking system allows travellers to explore Kenya’s attractions before continuing to their final destination, all within a coordinated reservation.

The move aims to unlock incremental leisure revenue beyond ticket sales by converting connecting passengers into short-term tourists.

Commenting on the partnership, Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the relaunch marks a strategic shift in the airline’s customer value proposition.

“The launch of KQ Holidays marks an important milestone in our journey to enhance customer choice and deliver greater value beyond the flight. By partnering with TUI Airline Holidays, we are combining world-class technology with our strong brand and network to offer travellers curated holiday experiences that showcase the very best of Kenya and our wider network, while supporting sustainable tourism growth,” Thairu said.

Dynamic Packaging Platform

KQ Holidays will offer tailor-made packages that include flights, premium hotel stays, airport transfers, and local experiences.

The platform, powered by TUI Airline Holidays’ white-label solution, enables real-time inventory management and dynamic packaging.

Customers can book services individually or bundle them into customised travel packages, offering flexibility for different travel preferences and budgets.

The partnership comes as airlines globally seek to diversify revenue streams by expanding into ancillary services and leisure packaging.

For Kenya Airways, the strategy aligns with efforts to strengthen Nairobi’s position as a regional aviation hub while boosting inbound tourism.
