Kenya’s HustleSasa Set to Pitch At NBA Africa Start-up Accelerator Demo Day

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenyan e-commerce platform HustleSasa is gearing up for its big moment on September 25, as one of ten start-ups selected to pitch at the prestigious ‘Triple-Double: NBA Africa Start-up Accelerator’ demo day.

This event, hosted at the NBA headquarters in New York City, will feature innovative companies from across Africa, each vying for a chance to secure financial backing and mentorship from industry heavyweights.

Founded in 2020 by Peng Chen, Michael Denuh, Rizz Jiwani, and Bien-Aime Alusa (of Sauti Sol fame), HustleSasa is transforming how live events are managed.

The platform offers a range of services, including payment processing, attendee check-in, merchandise sales, customer data management, and influencer tracking.

By providing an all-in-one solution for event organizers, HustleSasa is helping streamline operations and enhance the attendee experience.

The company isn’t new to the spotlight, either. Backed by Antler, HustleSasa raised Sh12.9 million ($100,000) in pre-seed funding from the Singapore-based early-stage investor in January 2021, according to its CrunchBase profile.

The NBA Africa Start-up Accelerator, launched in April, aims to bolster Africa’s growing technology ecosystem and nurture the next generation of entrepreneurs in the sports and creative industries.

Operated by ALX Ventures, the program targets early-stage start-ups with solutions in event management, AI, digital marketing, and youth development.

On demo day, HustleSasa will present to a panel of international leaders, hoping to be among the four companies chosen to receive financial support and mentorship.

These winning start-ups will be part of a select group shaping the future of Africa’s tech and creative industries.

While HustleSasa represents Kenya, nine other promising start-ups from across the continent will also take the stage, including Nigeria’s Buzza and Festival Coins, Rwanda’s Backrest, and Ghana’s Power to Girls Foundation.

Each company is developing unique solutions to challenges in event management, youth empowerment, and digital experiences.

The outcome of the pitch event could significantly impact the future trajectory of these businesses, propelling them to new heights in a competitive global landscape.
