From their very first basic designs, Crocs have come a long way before strutting into the mainstream fashion world.
Once seen as affordable, durable, everyday shoes for humble communities, Crocs didn’t offer much beyond that.
They were perfect for the convenience of low-income households. Before long, Crocs replaced slippers as house shoes, thanks to their comfort and ease of movement around the neighbourhood.
Although many still hadn’t embraced them, quite a number were already loyal wearers. At that point, the designs had evolved a bit but remained basic.
To attract the middle class, more impressive Crocs hit the market—those with double colours, slightly raised soles, a bit pricier, and available in supermarkets.
This marked the beginning of Crocs’ rapid evolution.
Soon, there was a whole range to choose from: bedazzled, adorned with charms, thicker soles, and increasing in height.
Some came ultra-cozy with fabric linings. Even brides weren’t left out—donning crisp white Crocs, bedazzled with shiny, mostly white charms. The variety? Endless.
Gen Z, however, have turned Crocs into shoes for every occasion—especially after high-end designers like Yeezy, Balenciaga, Gucci, and Nike joined in.
For Gen Z, there are Crocs for campus, Crocs for parties, Crocs for clubbing, Crocs for events—and get this—even Crocs for official wear!
At their hefty price tags, honestly, I’d wear them everywhere too (if I wouldn’t get into trouble, that is).
With Crocs becoming a fashion staple and gaining value-adds galore, Crocs for phones isn’t a far-fetched idea.
Samsung has already seized the opportunity as the first to make Crocs for phones—and more will surely follow.
What I love more than Crocs, though? The social media ads for Crocs. But now I’m wondering—what else can Crocs evolve into?
