NAIROBI, Kenya – The new Sh31 billion Bomas of Kenya International Conference Centre is set to officially open in January 2027, marking the completion of a major expansion of Kenya’s conference and events infrastructure.
The facility will have a capacity of about 11,000 people and is already attracting interest from major international and local organisations.
Officials said the centre has secured bookings from a United Nations agency, the Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) and the Kenya Bureau of Standards (Kebs).
Facility To Host Major International Events
The new conference centre is expected to position Kenya to host large-scale international conferences, exhibitions and sporting-related events.
With a capacity of 11,000 people, the facility will provide additional space for events that require large conference and exhibition venues.
The bookings already secured ahead of its official opening indicate growing demand for the facility.
Opening Set For January 2027
The Sh31 billion project is expected to officially open its doors in January 2027.
The development forms part of efforts to strengthen Kenya’s capacity to host major international meetings and events, while creating a modern venue capable of accommodating thousands of delegates.
The confirmed bookings from a UN agency, Afcon and Kebs are expected to provide an early test of the facility’s capacity to host high-profile events.
