NAIROBI, KENYA- Kenya and Israel have taken a major step in strengthening their defence and security cooperation following a meeting at the Defence Headquarters, hosted by Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, by Israel’s Ambassador to Kenya, Gideon Behar.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to establish a Strategic Defence Dialogue mechanism, a structured framework designed to institutionalize regular consultations, align long-term priorities, and ensure predictable, results-oriented cooperation.
The dialogue will serve as a permanent platform for joint planning and oversight of defence initiatives, marking a shift from ad-hoc arrangements to a more sustainable and forward-looking partnership.
“Our meeting also underscored the significance of elevating our engagement through the establishment of a structured and forward-looking Strategic Defence Dialogue mechanism, designed to institutionalise regular consultations, align long-term priorities, and ensure predictable, results-oriented cooperation between our two nations,” CS Tuya said.

The discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration in counter-terrorism operations, intelligence sharing, and cybersecurity, reflecting Kenya’s national security priorities.
Israel is committed to supporting the capacity building and training of the Kenya Defence Forces, including operational readiness, leadership development, and modernization of defence capabilities.
CS Tuya described the meeting as a “significant step toward deepening structured and sustainable defence partnerships” between the two countries.
The delegation from Israel included Deputy Ambassador Ariel Arviv and Head of the Israel Economic and Trade Mission Arnon Arbel, while the Kenya Defence Forces were represented by the incoming and outgoing Chiefs of Strategic Policy and Plans, Brigadier Caroline Mutisya and Brigadier Ronald Makori.
