NAIROBI, Kenya — Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity interruptions across 10 counties on Wednesday, March 4, citing routine maintenance and network upgrades.
In a notice issued Tuesday, the utility said power supply will be interrupted in selected areas between 8.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., depending on location.
The affected counties are Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, Bomet, Bungoma, Kakamega, Nyamira, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Kilifi.
Nairobi
In Nairobi County, electricity will be interrupted in parts of Kibera Drive and Kabarnet Road from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Areas to be affected include DC Kibera, Kichinjio, Kibera Lindi, Kibera Law Courts, Huduma Center, Makina Mosque, Kambi Muru, Kibera Mashimoni, Mashimoni Primary School, parts of Kisumu Ndogo, Sunday Studio, Kibera Gatwekera, and adjacent customers.
Kajiado
In Kajiado County, the outage will affect parts of Rongai, Church Road, and Matasia between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
Areas along Magadi Road, Total, Shell Laiser Hill Academy, Olerai School, Kware Market, Nairobi Women, and Fatima, as well as surrounding customers, will be without power.
Nakuru and Bomet
Parts of Mogotio and Lake Bogoria in Nakuru County will experience an interruption from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., including Ravine Junction, Soin Hospital, Mogotio town, sisal factories in the area, and Lake Bogoria Gate.
In Bomet County, sections of Sotik and Gorgor will face outages from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., affecting markets, schools, and water facilities, including Gorgor Booster and Kaplomboi Market.
Western and Nyanza Region
In Bungoma County, Webuye and Kimilili will be affected from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., including Namawanga, Kimilili, Kapsokwony, and Maeni.
Kakamega County will see interruptions in parts of Kakamega and Shikoti during the same hours, affecting Shikoti Mission, Lower Ingotse Market, Lurambi Primary School, and nearby areas.
Nyamira County’s Birongo and Mongoni areas will also be without electricity between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., including Nyankoba Tea Factory and Birongo Market.
Central and Coast Regions
In Nyeri County, parts of Ndima and Kianga will be without power from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., affecting tea and coffee factories, markets, and surrounding villages.
Kiambu County will experience outages in Murera Sisal, Jujafarm, and Athi from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m., impacting residential estates, schools, and commercial centres.
In Kilifi County, interruptions will occur in KBC Marekebuni, Garashi, Watamu, and Gede between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m., affecting markets, hotels, police stations, and surrounding customers.
Kenya Power advised customers in the listed areas to plan accordingly and switch off electrical appliances during the outage period to prevent damage when supply is restored.
The company said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and improve the reliability of the electricity supply.
