Details Of President Ruto’s Visit To Abu Dhabi

Date:

Nairobi, Kenya—President William Ruto departed the country on Monday to attend the prestigious Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit in the United Arab Emirates.

This high-profile event brings together world leaders to further the global sustainability agenda.

In the summit’s opening session, themed “Exploring the Global Energy Transition,” President Ruto will spotlight Kenya’s leadership in renewable energy, with a particular focus on geothermal power.

His address will emphasize Kenya’s strides in green energy and explore avenues for global partnerships to tackle energy challenges and boost sustainable growth.

In addition to participating in the summit, President Ruto is scheduled for crucial bilateral talks with influential leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

These discussions aim to deepen cooperation in key sectors such as energy, trade, investment, and technology—pillars essential to Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.

A significant milestone of this visit will be the anticipated signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the UAE.

This agreement is poised to enhance trade relations by simplifying export procedures, improving market access for services, and attracting investments from the UAE across multiple sectors.

The UAE, currently Kenya’s sixth-largest export market, plays a vital role in importing Kenyan tea, meat products, fruits, vegetables, and flowers.

Strengthened economic ties are expected to boost this trade relationship further.
