Ministry of Defence Calls for Applications: 45 Jobs for KCSE D and D+ Holders

NAIROBI, Kenya- The Ministry of Defence has invited applications from Kenyan citizens for 45 permanent and pensionable civilian staff positions, offering opportunities for job seekers with KCSE D and D+ qualifications.

In an advertisement published on Tuesday, 30 December 2025, the ministry outlined vacant roles that include 30 Garden Assistant III positions and 15 Support Staff/Sanitary Cleaner posts. 

Candidates are required to download and complete the PSC2 (Revised 2016) application form from the Public Service Commission website and submit it with copies of relevant certificates. 

Completed applications must reach the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Defence at P.O. Box 40668‑00100, Nairobi, or be hand‑delivered to Ulinzi House, off Lenana Road, by 20 January 2026. 

Job Details and Requirements

The Garden Assistant III positions are open to applicants with at least a KCSE mean grade of D+ (Plus) or an equivalent qualification. 

Successful candidates will be responsible for maintaining lawns, gardens and flowerbeds at Ministry of Defence facilities, State House grounds and official lodges. 

The roles carry a basic monthly salary of Sh19,340 to Sh24,470, along with a house allowance, commuter allowance of Sh3,000, and an annual leave allowance of Sh4,000.

The Support Staff/Sanitary Cleaner roles are entry‑level positions open to those with a KCSE mean grade of D (plain) or equivalent and a certificate in computer application skills from a recognised institution. 

Duties include sanitary cleaning, messengerial responsibilities and related support tasks. 

These positions offer a basic monthly salary of Sh18,250 to Sh22,720, in addition to commuter, house and leave allowances.

Application Guidelines and Equal Opportunity

The Ministry of Defence said canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and encouraged qualified applicants of all genders, ages, races, cultures, religions, marital statuses and persons with disabilities to apply. 

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. 

The vacancies come amid broader recruitment efforts across government ministries and state departments, including hundreds of positions recently advertised by the Public Service Commission in other sectors.
