NAIROBI, Kenya – Six candidates have been shortlisted for the position of Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), the selection panel has announced.
The panel’s Chairperson, Dr. Irene Asienga, said the shortlist was drawn from a pool of 17 applicants.
The interviews are set to take place at Harambee House in Nairobi.
The shortlisted candidates are:
- Victor Okoth Ogwang Lando (Nakuru)
- Selina Amsugut Iseme
- Claris Awour Ogangah
- Edward Katama Ngeywa (Trans Nzoia)
- Duncan Oburu Ojwang (Homa Bay)
- Michael Peter Otieno Okelloh (Siaya)
In a public notice, Asienga said the interviews will be held on a schedule to be shared with the candidates, and urged them to arrive at least 30 minutes before their interview time.
Candidates are required to bring a valid National ID or Passport, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, and any other relevant supporting documents.
They must also present valid clearance certificates from:
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
- A registered Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI – Police Clearance)
- Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (Self-Declaration Form)
A recommendation letter from a relevant professional body or association is also required where applicable.
“Canvassing for this position will lead to automatic disqualification,” Asienga warned.
Public Input Invited
The selection panel has invited members of the public to submit credible information—through sworn affidavits—on any of the shortlisted candidates.
The information should be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on 26 May, 2025.
