NAIROBI, Kenya – The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) has unveiled a fully digital platform for the registration of health facilities, marking a significant step in streamlining healthcare regulation through technology.
The new system replaces the council’s traditional paper-based registration with an automated, secure and user-friendly online platform.
KMPDC says the shift is part of a broader digital transformation agenda aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Kenya’s healthcare sector.
“This is not just a system upgrade—it is a transformation in how we deliver our mandate,” the Council said in a statement on Monday. “We are aligning with the government’s wider digitalisation push to improve public service delivery.”
The online portal allows applicants to register and manage their health facilities entirely digitally—submitting key information such as institutional details, director profiles, available services, personnel, and compliance documentation through a guided step-by-step interface.
KMPDC said the digital system improves data accuracy, automates validation processes, and maintains real-time audit trails.
Centralised digital records will also ease data retrieval and updates, while internal workflows will benefit from automated alerts and approval processes.
“Importantly, registration is granted only after verification of all submitted information,” KMPDC noted. “Any discrepancies result in rejection, highlighting the importance of honest and accurate applications.”

Applications are processed within 21 working days following facility inspection by KMPDC officers.
To protect user privacy, the system is fully compliant with Kenya’s Data Protection Act, 2019.
All submissions are encrypted, and the platform maintains strict access controls with automated logging of all activity.
Applicants also receive real-time email updates at each stage of the registration process.
The Council said it believes the digital shift will build public trust in the regulatory framework and improve access to legitimate healthcare services across the country.
“This platform is about more than convenience—it’s about reinforcing confidence in the health system,” the Council said.
