OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Tool for Financial Services

Date:

SAN FRANCISCO, United States- OpenAI is releasing ChatGPT for Financial Services, a specialised artificial intelligence tool designed for investment bankers, equity researchers and other finance professionals.

The platform is intended to help users complete research and analytical work that traditionally requires gathering information from several sources and manually preparing reports.

It can support tasks such as examining corporate earnings, updating investment theses, analysing financial models, preparing company comparisons and producing summaries for decision-makers.

The release extends OpenAI’s efforts to develop professional AI tools tailored to specialised industries and workplace functions.

OpenAI has previously demonstrated finance-related applications of ChatGPT and Codex, including analysing earnings reports, building forecasting tools, reconciling financial statements and preparing board-ready reports.

The new financial-services product is expected to help professionals search, organise and assess large volumes of financial information while producing drafts of reports, presentations and other work products.

It is aimed particularly at investment banking and equity research teams, where analysts routinely work with earnings releases, regulatory filings, transaction documents, market information and internal company data.

The platform’s release also places OpenAI in growing competition with established financial data providers and technology companies developing AI assistants for bankers, analysts and investment managers.

Financial institutions have increasingly adopted generative AI to reduce the time spent on repetitive research, document preparation and data analysis. However, firms remain responsible for reviewing AI-generated material and complying with financial regulations, confidentiality requirements and internal controls.

Official OpenAI documentation available at publication time had not established the product’s price, complete rollout schedule or regional availability.

OpenAI provides examples of its existing finance workflows through its official ChatGPT learning resources, including earnings analysis, forecasting and financial reporting.
