KNEC Activates Portal Ahead of 2025 KCSE Results Release

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has activated its online portal for checking the 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) provisional results, ahead of the official release of the national examination outcomes.

However, a notice displayed on the portal indicates that candidates will only be able to access their results once KNEC formally releases them.

“2025 KCSE Provisional Results: Checking of KCSE Examination Provisional Results will be available after official release,” the message on the portal reads in part.

Why the Portal Is Live Before Results Release

KNEC’s early activation of the portal is a standard preparatory measure aimed at ensuring the system is fully operational before results are made public. The move is designed to reduce delays and technical failures that often occur when thousands of candidates, parents, and teachers attempt to access the platform simultaneously.

Once the results are officially released, candidates will be required to input their index numbers and the examination year to access their provisional results online.

Education CS Dismisses Fake Results Claims

The development comes just days after Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba dismissed viral claims on social media alleging that the 2025 KCSE results had already been released.

In a statement issued on Saturday, January 3, Ogamba refuted reports claiming that Kapsabet Boys had emerged as the top school nationally.

“Treat such fake and misleading news with the contempt it deserves,” Ogamba said, warning the public against relying on unverified information.

Expected Timeline for KCSE Results

Despite dismissing the misinformation, the Education CS previously confirmed that the KCSE results would be released within a clear timeframe.

Speaking during the Omogusii Cultural Festival at Kenyoro School Groups in North Mugirango last week, Ogamba said the Ministry would stick to tradition.

“The KCSE examination results will be released within the next two weeks. Traditionally, the KCSE examinations are normally announced in January, and we are keeping it to that tradition,” he said.

The 2025 KCSE examinations concluded on November 21, 2025, after running for about five weeks, having started on October 21.
