NAIROBI, Kenya- The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced a scheduled two-day maintenance of its Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS), set to disrupt services in early April.
The maintenance will begin on Saturday, April 4, and run until Monday, April 6.
Customs system upgrade to affect key services
KRA said the planned downtime is aimed at improving system performance, stability, security, and overall user experience.
The authority notified partner government agencies, importers, exporters, clearing agents, and shipping lines of the upcoming maintenance.
“KRA regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders as we continue to improve service delivery,” the Authority said.
Traders urged to act before shutdown
The Kenya Revenue Authority advised stakeholders to submit urgent declarations, complete payments, and clear cargo before the system goes offline.
Those dealing with perishable or time-sensitive goods have been particularly urged to act early to avoid losses.
KRA also encouraged users to reach out through official support channels, including email, phone, and social media, for assistance.
Comes days after iTax system disruption
The announcement follows a recent maintenance exercise on the iTax platform, which is widely used for filing returns and making tax payments.
The iTax system was temporarily unavailable for four hours on March 22 as part of routine upgrades to enhance performance and reliability.
The latest ICMS maintenance signals continued efforts by KRA to modernise its digital systems and improve service delivery.
