NAIROBI, Kenya- President William Ruto has led the dedication and handover of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s mausoleum at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County.
The mausoleum, built by the Kenya Defence Forces, has been handed over to the National Museums of Kenya for management and preservation.
The site will serve as a heritage and education centre, documenting the lives and legacies of Raila and his father, Kenya’s first Vice-President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
The ceremony was restricted to invited guests and included full military honours.
Members of the public had been advised not to travel to the site because of space and security constraints.
The event was broadcast, with public viewing screens set up in Bondo.
The mausoleum will open to the public on Thursday, October 8.
It is the final resting place of Raila and Jaramogi, whose public lives were closely tied to Kenya’s political history.
