NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has reacted after Radio Jambo cancelled a scheduled interview that had been set to air on Thursday morning.
The Nairobi Senator confirmed on Wednesday that his appearance on the station’s popular breakfast show had been called off, with the broadcaster citing “unavoidable circumstances.”
Sifuna shared a screenshot of a message allegedly sent by a producer identified as Martin NK informing him of the cancellation and apologising for the inconvenience.
“Good afternoon, Senator. Unfortunately, we are not able to run the Radio Jambo interview tomorrow morning as initially planned. This is due to unavoidable circumstances. Apologies for any inconvenience,” the message read in part.
However, the ODM Secretary General appeared to dismiss the explanation, suggesting there could have been external influence behind the decision.
“Radio Jambo is claiming unavoidable circumstances, but if you know, you know,” Sifuna wrote on social media.
“It is even better because I will watch Arsenal getting whooped without the pressures of waking up early,” he added in a light-hearted remark referencing football.
The senator had been scheduled to appear on the station’s widely followed “Gidi na Ghost” breakfast programme and had already shared promotional posters for the interview online before the cancellation.
The development quickly sparked reactions online, with many Kenyans expressing disappointment over the missed interview.
Some social media users suggested that Sifuna host a live discussion on X, formerly Twitter, to address supporters directly.

Others speculated, without evidence, that political pressure may have contributed to the cancellation. Several users argued that the move would only increase Sifuna’s visibility and popularity nationally.
The incident comes as Sifuna continues to attract attention within Kenya’s political landscape through his outspoken commentary on governance and national affairs.
