MOSCOW, Russia- The U.S. Embassy in Moscow has warned of a credible threat of a mass casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve on Saturday, October 31, and urged people to avoid the site and surrounding area.
The alert identifies the location as the museum complex at Dolskaya Ulitsa 1 in southern Moscow.
“The U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response,” the embassy said. It did not provide details about the nature of the threat.
The embassy advised U.S. citizens to stay alert, avoid crowds, review their personal security plans, keep mobile phones charged and carry identification.
It also urged them to monitor local media and enrol in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for security updates.
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed it had received information from the United States about preparations for a possible attack in Moscow.
The agency said appropriate measures were being taken, according to Russian state media.
The museum reserve, a historic palace and park complex in the Russian capital, was temporarily closed and access to the park restricted, Reuters reported, citing law enforcement agencies.
