Mbeere North: Wamuthende Says He Won’t Forgive Those Who Challenged His ‘Win’

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Following the dismissal of an election petition against Mbeere North MP Leonard Wamuthende, the legislator has welcomed the High Court ruling by Justice Richard Mwongo at Embu, affirming that he won the by-election fairly and squarely.

Addressing journalists in Mbbere North,  shortly after the petition filed by Julieta Karigi Kithumbu and Patrick Gitonga Gichoni, was dismissed, Wamuthende said he is now ready to receive the Sh800,000 compensation the court ordered the petitioners to pay.

“I will not forgive these two petitioners,” Wamuthende said.

“If they want forgiveness, they should first seek it from the people of Mbeere North. Only then will I forgive them.”

He added that the court found no merit in the petition, describing the action as driven by ulterior motives and lacking legal grounds.

Wamuthende also criticized the petitioners for failing to raise the Sh500,000 security fee required by law.

The legislator further warned the petitioners to stop contacting him over the matter, insisting that “everyone must carry their own cross.”

Wamuthende thanked the people of Mbeere North for their support and prayers throughout the legal process, as well as his legal team led by Counsel Adrian Kamotho.

He also took a swipe at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, accusing him of spreading hate against President Ruto and saying that prayers are needed to stop it.

“The people of Mbeere North need development, not hatred,” he said.

The legislator expressed confidence that the UDA Party will win the upcoming February 26 MCA by-elections in Evurore and Muminji, naming UDA aspirants Duncan Muratia and Peterson Njeru Njiru as frontrunners.

“We do not have time for propaganda. UDA is ready to deliver development in Mbeere North,” he said.
