William Ruto Congratulates Donald Trump after Being Elected 47th US President: “Please Accept”

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya—President William Ruto has joined his fellow global colleagues in congratulating Donald Trump on his election as the 47th US President.

Trump won the presidency, securing a second term nearly four years after leaving Washington under a cloud of disgrace and an uncertain political future.

However, in his official X account statement, President Ruto wished Trump the best in office.

“Your Excellency President @realDonaldTrump, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and my behalf, I convey to Your Excellency my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” President Ruto posted.

What Donald Trump’s victor means to the American people

According to President Ruto, Trump’s victory reflects the American people’s firm resolve to trust in his “visionary, bold, and innovative leadership.”

“As you embark on this phase of your leadership journey, Kenya stands ready to enhance further our cooperation on matters of mutual interest, including trade, investment, technology and innovation, peace and security, and sustainable development,” President Ruto said.

The Kenyan leaders further said that the East African nation values its longstanding partnership with the United States, which has spanned over sixty years and is grounded in their shared values of democracy, development, and mutual respect.

“We look forward to deepening our collaboration under your leadership as we work together to address global challenges, promote peace and security and foster inclusive economic growth for the benefit of our peoples. Congratulations once again, Mr. President-Elect,” added President Ruto.

President Ruto also wished Trump luck as he prepares to assume office early next year.

“May your tenure bring continued progress and unity to the United States of America and strengthen the bonds between our two great nations. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration,” he said.

In an election marked by several unexpected events, including a criminal prosecution involving Trump during the campaign, two assassination attempts against the former president, and a shift at the top of the Democratic ticket following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race, Trump defeated Vice President Harris.

How Donald Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris

He is the second president to lose the White House and regain it again, after President Cleveland in 1892, and the first to do so in almost 120 years.

Following a roughly 100-day campaign he and Harris faced off, Trump gained the 270 electoral votes required to win the White House. Until Election Day, polling in seven crucial battleground states showed little difference between the candidates.

Ultimately, the former president prevailed handily, breaking the “blue wall,” holding North Carolina, and moving Georgia back into his column. He was predicted to win the popular vote by a slim margin, something Republicans have only done once since 1992 and something he did not do in 2016.

The former president and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), took advantage of voter dissatisfaction with rising costs, a spike in migration at the southern border, and international unrest during the Biden administration to sell voters on a return to his policies.
